However, households with more occupants may need more frequent tank emptying to avoid overflow. Before installation, contact your local council for specific rules and guidelines. Septic tanks depend on soil to absorb and naturally treat wastewater, utilizing bacteria to break down waste. It's crucial not to introduce substances that could harm these bacteria into the drainage system.

Products containing chlorine or ammonia, fats, greases, non degradable items like disposable nappies, sanitary napkins, cat litter, plastics, and poisons such as petrol, paint, thinners, pesticides, and excessive food scraps are examples of harmful substances.
